Preview SnackDown 2017
We are thrilled to announce that the 1st of July, 2017 witnessed the successful Finale of SnackDown 2017, our annual flagship coding competition, that invited 38 teams from across 10 countries to battle it out for the title “SnackDown 2017 Champions”. These teams had bested over 21K teams in multiple Online Qualifiers to fight their way into the Onsite Finale. A 5 hour long intense session resulted in Oleg Merkurev of Ural Federal University and Aleksei Daniliuk of NRU Higher School of Economics from Russia claiming the title and winning a cash award of $10,000. The first runners up title was grabbed by Ryuta Kawai and Kohji Liu from University of Tokyo, Japan. The second runner up slot was claimed by Jin Ce and Zou Xiaoyao from Tsinghua University, China. The first and the second runner up won $5,000 and $3,000 respectively. The best team from India was from IIT Kanpur featuring Sahil Grover & Atanu Chakraborty who won $2000. Weiqiang Yuan of High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University Nanjing and Remilia-Scarlet of Shaoxing No.1 High School Zhejiang went on to emerge as the Best School Team, winning a cash award of $500.
Armed with a whole new format (the participants had the freedom to choose their teammates from anywhere across various institutes/organizations/nations etc), this year’s SnackDown raised the bar to a whole new level. Yet the intent to celebrate a love for coding, which has been our mission since our humble beginnings in 2010, remains the same.
Congratulations to all our contestants, and a huge shout out to everyone who followed us along for this exciting journey. We promise to be back next year, bigger, grander (and tougher!) than ever. Until then, stay tuned!
